Resisters, it is so hard to keep up. A new nightmare comes up every single day in this awful dimension we are living in.
And yet, we are up to the fight. All you fascists bound to lose!
The Dementia Files
Dementia Don's mental and cognitive state are not improving.
The MRI/"Cognitive test"
While flying to Japan on Air Force One last week, he must've taken some pretty good uppers because he sounded fairly cogent, but still replete with the usual Ton o' Lies and Bizarro Stuff.
Here's maybe the most bizarre three minutes of the half-hour "gaggle" (the Whitewash House's term) with the press.
He admitted that he had an MRI at Walter Reed: "I did, I got an MRI, it was perfect, yep. I gave you the full results. We had an MRI and the machine, you know, the whole thing, and it was perfect."
When asked what the doctors were looking for, he said, "You could ask the doctors. In fact, we have doctors traveling with us. But I think they gave you a very conclusive — nobody has ever given you reports like I gave you. And if I didn't think it was going to be good either, I would let you know negatively. I wouldn't run. I'd do something. But uh uh the doctor said some of the best reports – for the age – they were some of the best reports, for the age, some of the best reports they've ever seen."
An MRI is a serious exam and only for serious problems. Does he really not know what body part they were looking at? I think we are all assuming the skull cavern.
Which makes sense, because he segued from his perfect MRI reports to his acing a "very hard" cognitive test where he had to name "tiger, elephant or giraffe."
The test he keeps bragging about – which includes naming animals like tiger, elephant, and giraffe – is the Montreal Cognitive Assessment (MOCA), which is NOT a full assessment. It is a screening tool which takes about 10 minutes, and is designed to screen patients for further cognitive testing when mild cognitive impairment or dementia is suspected.
Here is the MOCA (and I hate that this test is being publicized so much, because the reliability and validity is getting destroyed with each person that sees it, but it's out there, so here I go).
This is version 1. Notice that none of the animals are tiger, elephant or giraffe (and only giraffe is on any of the versions).
Notice that a full six points of the possible 30 is orientation to date and place.
Notice that anyone without a cognitive impairment could complete these tasks quite easily. It is not an IQ test and it is not an aptitude test. It's not even a cognitive evaluation. It is a screening tool for mild cognitive impairment and dementia. A screening instrument's job is to identify the patients who need further testing.
Why did he reveal that the MRI happened when his medical history has been so secretive? It was probably the disinhibition that comes with his dementia. He just blurted it out. I guarantee his handlers were not at all happy. Look at Little Marco in the background, shooting him a side-eye.
For more on the MOCA, I looked at it in depth in this post from the Person - Man- Woman - Camera - TV days. There are MOCA memes there too!
One of the LSR-writin' mugs in the cabinet. Made by Sister Resister June!
If he found the MOCA "very hard," then yes, let's get that MRI! Let's get a neuropsychologist or a speech-language pathologist to do a more extensive evaluation, and let's get some more information! And maybe prescribe some Aricept.
The reporters did not follow up with questions like, "Were they looking specifically at your brain bucket?" They were more interested in asking about a third term.
They were asking seriously, as if it were a thing. Guys, there ain't no thing called a third presidential term. It hasn't been a thing since the Constitution was amended in 1951! The 22nd Amendment clearly and unequivocably prohibits more than two terms. STOP LEGITIMIZING HIS WACKADOO FANTASIES!
Let's not ignore the racism of his comments, either. It's an old trope to call a Black person "low IQ," and he certainly cannot inhibit his racism. Dementia or no.
After the plane landed and he met with Japan's newly elected prime minister, Sanae Takaichi, his dementia was on full display. Here is nurse Takaichi, guiding the patient around the memory care unit:
GAH! I hate it. He feels he is entitled to every woman's body, from teenage beauty contestants to the freaking prime minister of Japan. Get your stinking mitts off her!
His remarks contained the usual word salad. I'll spare you the video. Someone made this, so I'll leave it here.
BREAKING: UH, WTF? Trump goes off the rails with a completely BATSH*T crazy speech to US troops that shows his demented brain is decaying at a rapid pace!
President Trump’s trip to Japan started off on the wrong foot in a big way — videos show him ambling about aimlessly and needing to be pointed in the right direction by his handlers — before taking the stage to address our troops stationed there.
After his usual brags about how we’re not woke anymore and we love killing people but also he deserves a Nobel Peace Prize, Trump then started talking about how he, uh, hates “good looking people,” and then somehow pivots to the Supreme Court?
“From the men and women of the rank and file, that's true. It comes from you people, incredible people, good looking people, too many good looking people. I don't like good looking people.
I never liked good looking people, I'll be honest with you. I've never admitted that before. But see, I'm allowed to see, you know, we wanted the Supreme Court to think based on merit.
You know about that, right? Merit. Everything now in our country is based on merit. And that's why I look at you and I see nothing but merit. It's great to have a country back where we can go by merit now. We don't go by anything else except for talent and work and hard work.”
Oh, sure, Trump. That’s why your administration has 23 former Fox News personalities working in it right now? Merit?
Then he goes in on the Gulf of America and, well, read it for yourself. Because it’s nonsense:
“Is it nice? They say it now routinely. I heard the news today. The Gulf of America weather is wonderful. They don't say it with a smile. It's called the Gulf of America.”
“How did that happen, right? And it took me, you know, for many years, I said, why is it called the Gulf of Mexico when we seem to have the shore? Well, we do. We have 92% of the shoreline. And so I said, you know, when we make it back, not if, when, too big to rig.
We made it too big to rig. I said, get out and vote. Too big to rig.”
“Make it that way. I said, I'm going to change it. And one of the first things I did is I changed it.
Nobody could even fight it. They tried. We got sued all over the place.”
“We won every suit. And it's now officially the Gulf of America. Isn't that nice? But our sailors have written honor, greatness and triumph into the pages of history. So what you're doing is incredible. And it's an incredible time for our country on gun decks and flight decks and torpedo rooms and cockpits. The men and women of the Navy have poured out their blood and sweat and tears to defend the land.”
This is complete and utter gibberish. And it gets worse as he goes off on a bizarre rant about the catapults they use on aircraft carriers and how it’s somehow woke to use electricity:
"Let me ask you. We're gonna go steam first and then electric. Catapults, which is better, electric or stream? I'm gonna put in an order. Seriously. They're spending billions of dollars to build stupid electric. And the problem when it breaks you have to send up to MIT, get the most brilliant people in the world."
This is evidence of dementia, according to psychologists. Dr. John Gartner told The Daily Beast Podcast that the 79-year-old’s absurd speeches, repeated confusion, and frequent lapses in memory are flashing signs of his “immense cognitive decline.” The way that Trump’s thinking is so “disordered” is very similar to dementia patients who “pick up on one concrete physical detail” and then “free-associate” away from the original topic — which is every single Trump speech.
Anyone watching Trump speak on any subject for longer than a minute can tell something is seriously wrong with this man, and it is beyond comprehension how so many Republicans are willing to go along with his insane whims. 25th Amendment NOW!
The Nazi Files
There has been much Nazi activity in our government lately. And it's not the "you sound kinda like a Nazi" variety. It's the "I'm confirming that I am 100% a Nazi" type.
The Young Republicans
Seems like old news now, but a couple weeks ago a bunch of male (as far as I can tell) "young Republicans" from Arizona, Kansas, New York, and Vermont spouted some odious racist, misogynistic, and yes, Nazi, rhetoric in a group chat. See here:
"William Hendrix, the Kansas Young Republicans’ vice chair, used the words 'n--ga' and 'n--guh,' variations of a racial slur, more than a dozen times in the chat. Bobby Walker, the vice chair of the New York State Young Republicans at the time, referred to rape as 'epic.' Peter Giunta, who at the time was chair of the same organization, wrote in a message sent in June that 'everyone that votes no is going to the gas chamber.'"
Condemnation of this odious behavior? Not from Prince Smarming.
The Vice President brushed it off saying, that negative reactions to it was "pearl clutching" and described the behavior as, "That's what kids do." On a podcast, he said:
"The reality is that kids do stupid things, especially young boys. They tell edgy, offensive jokes, like, that’s what kids do. And I really don’t want us to grow up in a country where a kid telling a stupid joke — telling a very offensive, stupid joke — is cause to ruin their lives. And at some point we’re all going to have to say enough of this BS, we’re not going to allow the worst moment in a 21-year-old’s group chat to ruin a kid’s life for the rest of time. That’s just not OK."
Except they aren't "kids." They are up to 40 years old (JD DiVan-ce is 41), and many hold high positions in their states' Republican machinery, including a state senator.
Other Repug leaders did condemn the jerks and held some of them accountable. There were demands made for resignations, firings, and the Kansas chapter has been disbanded.
A Regime Nominee is a Nazi
TRUMP's pick to lead the Office of Special Counsel, Paul Ingrassia, has a self-described "Nazi streak" and believes that, "MLK Jr. was the 1960s George Floyd and his ‘holiday’ should be ended and tossed into the seventh circle of hell where it belongs."
Charming.
His nomination was withdrawn after the expose by Politico.
A Duly elected Member of Congress Displays a Swastika in his Office
Several flags with a swastika embedded in the stripes were sent to Republikkkan congressional offices, but Rep. Dave Taylor (Ohio) was the only one that displayed it.
When it was found out, he claimed it was part of a "ruse" and that the swastika was not visible to the naked eye. You be the judge. Here is the flag from a screenshot during a video meeting.
Greg Bovino
Bovino is an awful person who commands the Border Patrol in Chicago (which, by the way, is 1285 miles from the closest international border (Canada). What's he doing in Chicago? We all want to know).
Here he is with his stylish SS hairdo leaving the Dirkson Federal Courthouse in Chicago. Saluting the crowd, as one does.
Why is he at the Dirkson Federal Courthouse? He was ordered by U.S. District Judge Sara Ellis to appear every evening while in the city to report on the operations he is overseeing.
Thank you, Judge!
By the way, Judge Ellis is another immigrant woman sticking it to the regime. Though she is the good kind of immigrant, white and from Canada. Or is that good now? The white part, yes, but definitely not the woman part, and maybe not so much the Canadian part. So hard to keep track.
Herr Bovino previously oversaw the recent CBP operations in Los Angeles. You remember the bad things that happened there.
Before that, he was relieved of command in 2023 and was encouraged to retire because of bad behavior. Needless to say, he did not retire and instead bounced back to be one of TRUMP's good, proud li'l boys.
The Fascist Files
There's so damn much.
John Bolton, former v1.0 regime advisor and new top spot on the Enemies List, has been indicted on charges that he allegedly unlawfully transmitted and retained classified documents.
His former boss is big mad that he wrote a scathing book about his years of service to The Toddler.
Trump wants $230 million from DOJ.
Can you say corrupt? He is insisting on a payout because the DOJ investigated him as a private citizen and as president* during his first occupation. The people who will decide on the payout? Why, they are his very own appointed minions. Gah!
The homeless in Utah will now be considered vermin to be contained. The regime is building internment camps for the unhoused with a plan to institute involuntary stays for "addiction and mental health treatment" for the (TRUMP's words) "dangerously deranged."
This tracks. It's the fascist MO: persecute the most vulnerable. Round 'em up, strip them of their rights, send them away. They won't fight back; many of them can't.
The millions spent on this stupid program could be better used for legitimate assistance programs and housing. But that ain't the fascist way, now is it?
The racist part of his cognitive "IQ" test rant gets put here in the Fascist Files, too.
MAGAts continue their campaign of erasing history. Two federal prosecutors were placed on leave because they told the truth about January 6. They used language in court papers that used the words, "riot"and "mob" when describing the events at the Capitol.
Remigrate.
Perhaps this should have been posted under "Nazi." Experts in far-right extremism and Nazism were alarmed by this simple post by DHS recently:
It's a loaded word and one related to "The Great Replacement Theory," a conspiracy theory that believes people of color are systemically replacing white people. To combat what they see as a purposeful set of actions, the white nationals want to remove people of color to ensure a white majority. The Nazis did this when they planned to remigrate Jews by sending boatloads of them to Madacascar, for example.
It is awful, and is pure racism at its most base.
By using this language, the regime is broadcasting their awful intentions
Speaking of racism, it's hard to keep up with all the ICE atrocities, but one this week stood out. It happened in Durango, Colorado, when ICE agents stopped a man and his two children who were on their way to school and detained all of them.
About 100 community members went to peacefully protest at the ICE facility, mostly concerned about the children and wanting to ensure they were fed, and they wanted them released to their mother. ICE agents appeared suddenly and became violent with the protestors, shooting rubber bullets and pepper spray at close range, injuring several.
Several days later, ICE admitted that they detained the father by mistake.
There are no words.
TRUMP is still murdering people on the high seas. Several more boats have been struck. I think we are up around 50+ murders so far in more than 10 strikes, and the latest ones have been in the Pacific.
I hope I live long enough to see people tried and convicted for these crimes.
A top US Admiral has suddenly stepped down over the strikes. Adm. Alvin Holsey is retiring at the end of this year, two years ahead of schedule.
Thank you, Adm. Holsey for your service and for standing up for the Constitution.
I worry for all these resignations. I applaud them, but I'm fearful that we are losing all the leaders who have moral compasses.
South Korea gifted Baby Hands an actual gold crown. It's a replica, but it's doubtful Dumb Don realizes that. Also at the state dinner in Seoul, the kids menu offered "mini beef patties with ketchup," to placate the toddler guest.
Look at him. He can barely conceal his boner.
Can we please stop snuggling this scumbag's nether regions?
TRUMP got his diaper in a twist over an ad that the province of Ontario ran that showed a 1987 Ronald Reagan speech about tariffs. Here is the radio speech they drew from:
TRUMP was so triggered by them using the Right's beloved Ronnie to speak against his tariffs that he slapped another 10% tariff on Canadian goods in retaliation for the ad.
This Vance interview. This is just abso-fucking-lutely insane.
He's talking to a right-wing podcaster and goes into immigration. Listen to how he characterizes them. Keep listening past the "eating cats and dogs" part to the neighbors part.
If you can't stand to listen to the asshole, here is what he said:
"Um but you you have you have let's say a family of five that you've known for 5 years, 10 years moves out of the house is actually evicted from the house because there are people who are going to pay more for rent. And then what happens is 20 people move into a three-bedroom house. 20 people from a totally different culture, totally different ways of interacting. Again, we can respect their dignity while also being angry at the Biden administration for letting that situation happen and recognizing that their next door neighbors are going to say, "Well, wait a second. What What is going on here? I don't know these people. They don't speak the same language that I do." And and because there are 20 in the house next door, it's a little bit rowdier than it was when there was just a family of four, a family of five. It is totally reasonable and acceptable for American citizens to look at their next door neighbors and say, "I want to live next to people who I have something in common with. I don't want to live next to four families of strangers." And the fact that we had an immigration system that actually promoted that division is a real real disgrace of the Biden administration. And are you going to be able to remove all of those illegal migrants that came in during the Biden administration? We're trying. Yeah, we're trying to remove as many as we possibly can."
I started the clip at that point in the podcast.
Imagine if our immigrant forebears were treated the same way. Many of us wouldn't be here, and it certainly wouldn't be the America we love.
Hey, Couch Fucker! The Statue of Liberty doesn't say anything about "Give me your non-rowdy, your wealthy, your huddled few that can fit comfortably in a three-bedroom, two bath tract house yearning to speak English."
It reminds me of another Ronald Reagan speech.
How in the hell did we come to getting all teary-eyed and nostalgic for the Reagan years?! We truly are in an alternate dimension.
The Oligarch Files
Soybean Land Baron, You Mean
Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent fashioned himself into a "soybean farmer" in a recent conversation with ABC News's Martha Radditz. Oh how he feels the pain of the farmers! He's one of them!
Except he's not. He's worth $600 million. He feels no pain. He does owns some farmland in North Dakota, but he rents the land to actual farmers. He's not out there with a hoe and a John Deere. He is making literal millions off those who are.
Will 👏 you 👏 please 👏 shut 👏 up 👏!
We Can Tell Who it is By the Orange Stain on Their Nose
Another bribe came in, this time an anonymous "donation" of $130 million to help to "offset the cost of service members’ salaries and benefits" while the shutdown is happening.
Do we want private entities coming in to pay anything federal? This will send us down a dark path.Who are you kidding, LSR? We're well along that putrid path... In any case, it sounds like a lot of money, but it works out to about $100 for each service member. $100. That's all. Enjoy that fruit basket, soldier.
The Epstein Files
The files haven't been released.
There's still a House measure pending that moves the needle toward releasing the files, but it's being stalled by House Speaker Small Johnson. He still has not confirmed Rep. Adelita Grijalva (Ariz.), who would be a pivotal vote. Mike has not let the House convene since September 19 and he has said that they will not convene until the government reopens. What a tool.
Epstein victim Virginia Giuffre's posthumous memoir was published this week.
I can't imagine the trauma this woman lived through. Here's a little bit about it from NPR.
Epstein associate, Scumbag Prince Andrew, is now known as Andrew Mountbatten Windsor.
Let's get this mo-fo in front of Congress to answer some questions!
Updates on SNAP
Breaking News! After I wrote the below, two judges in Massachusetts and Rhode Island today ordered that the government must use the funds that are available and continue SNAP benefits.
It is still a little sticky, with the funds not being immediately available and are limited in amount. The available money is not enough to last through November.
It's Reprehensible: The Rethugs are going forward with their plan to withhold SNAP benefits starting tomorrow, November 1. You read right: they want to starve people to leverage their plan to make us pay more for health insurance.
Communities of restaurants, food banks, and regular people are coming together to fill the gap.
I talked to a friend in far NorCal this week, and she told me that shortly after the impending crisis was known, she immediately got with her women's group to start organizing people, restaurants, and organizations to help fill the gap.
We shouldn't have to do it, but I'm so grateful people are stepping up. And you know what they are not doing? Checking voter registration, social media, or affiliations of any kind. If you are hungry, people want to help. Period end of story.
I only know about New Mexico and California, but many establishments are offering free meals, especially to children, no questions asked. I'm sure it's the same across the country.
Here are just a few:
Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham of New Mexico announced that the state has found $30 million in funds that they will use to extend benefits for 10 days in November.
Rep. Melanie Stansbury (D-New Mex.) introduced a bill to force reinstate SNAP benefits, called the SNAP BACK Act. I really like Rep. Stansbury. She is a true statesperson and patriot.
You'll find MAGAts crying, "If thoSe pEOple jUst woRkeD theY wOuLDn't bE hunGrY!" and "BUt TheY aRE buYinG jUnk foOd, nOT reAl FoOd!"
****Please donate to your local food bank. They are going to be busy.****
The Air Traffic Controllers
SNAP benefits aren't the only worrisome aspect of the shutdown. Air traffic controllers have missed their first paycheck.
Sure, let's add the stress of not being able to pay bills to the already highest-stress job in the land, a job that costs lives if mistakes are made.
Are we great yet?
The Idiots
A couple weeks ago, Captain Mabelline and friends decided to celebrate the 250th birthday of Marines at Camp Pendelton in Southern California, and in doing so it would be a fine idea to fire munitions over I-5, one of the busiest freeways in America.
They did a test firing while cars zoomed on the freeway between the big honkin' guns and the targets they were firing on.
Gov. Newsom and CalTrans officials thought it prudent to close the freeway the following day for the "real" event.
MAGAts thought it was wimpy to close the freeway. Safety? Huh? Just because a few cars happen to be in the firing trajectory?
The freeway was closed anyway, and it turns out that during the event, as reported by the Los Angeles Times, "the California Highway Patrol is reporting that a CHP cruiser parked on an onramp of Interstate 5 was hit by falling shrapnel after an artillery round exploded midair, far earlier than intended, forcing an early end to the artillery demonstration. Although no one was hurt, the revelations raised new questions about safety issues and whether it was wise to fire live munitions over a freeway."
Ummmm. Duh.
The Positives
Acting U.S. Attorney Bill Essayli is out
A judge deemed Essayli ineligible to continue in the post due to his temporary status having expired. U.S. District Judge J. Michael Seabright said he had been serving illegally since July.
Will beauty queen, TRUMP aide, real estate lawyer and possibly-illegally-appointed U.S. Attorney Lindsey Halligan be next?
Gavin Newsom and Kamala Harris are both eyeing a run for president in 2028
She and Bernie held a town hall on CNN recently. Here she is talking about the toxic masculinity that the Right has wrought.
AOC: And they are able to radicalize a generation of young boys in particular, away from healthy masculinity and into an insecure masculinity that requires the domination of others who are poorer, browner, darker, or a different gender than them.
The attendance numbers have been updated by YouGov. They estimate that 8% of the population came out to protest on October 18. This is huge! Well done, resisters!
47's poll numbers continue to sink
YouGov has also published the latest approval ratings for Dear Leader. His numbers have hit a new low; he is now underwater by 19 points. The only president who has done worse was 45.
Billie Eilish dropping the mic.
And finally, a reminder.
Resisters, remember: we will be on the right side of history. Keep fighting, keep resisting, keep the hope. We will prevail, and our children and grandchildren will be proud of us!
Your Moments of Beauty
An Oklahoma girls basketball team returned their championship when they realized a scoring error had occurred and they had actually lost the championship game. They appealed their own victory and prevailed. Read the story in The Guardian.
